verizon already has tiered data plans or will soon at any rate. At & T however might go back to non tiered data plans now since they're taking tMobile's 4g network and supporting it with their own. Like I said on the random board, google and At & t are gonna take over the world.

As i read more on about this topic of A T and T buying T-mobile it makes me sick!. My worries are will those who currently have a 3g t-mobile phone befored to upgrade to something that works with A T and T's network. This really has me consurned. So what do you all think about this murger?

I'm on a family plan with TMobile and my phone is unlocked and very simple, so I don't worry about texting, internet, 3/4g etc., but I do worry about pricing. As it is, I can only use it on week nights after 9 PM or on weekends. Otherwise, it cuts into everyone else's minutes. If we can keep this plan but it is made unlimited, that would be the best all around. If, however, they break up the plan and don't provide unlimited service, then it could cause problems for the family. I have a landline so am fine for most things, but that won't help me when I'm out.

I'm thinking they'll just combine the two networks like they did when AT&T bought Cingular.
Welcome to rollover minutes for us T-Mobile customers, I bet. So maybe I buy fewer minutes and let 'em roll over and not worry about when the teenager talks to a friend outside her favs network.
This has been done before. And, we on T-Mobile who want to buy data will be able to get an iPhone. It will mean Droid and iPhone will compete in the more true sense of the word, because the three major U.S. carriers will be carrying them. Not all mergers are bad, especially, as I stated before, when this has been done before. Some of y'all were still suckin' your thumb when Cingular got bought, so you're excused from not knowing.

So how would this affect my plan/usage, if at all?

Ya, lets go with verizon and get an Iphone on there network that is as slow as a 90 year old driving a catalac. Never mind the fact that you can't even use data and audio at the same time. so what will come out of this is verizon will end up buying sprint. then may the best man winn!

CDMA = can't do much of anything.
That's the real problem. And the reason most of the known world, including the third world, doesn't use it.

But TMobile uses gsm. Will they now require us to switch to cdma? I hope not! I finally found a decent phone and would hate to have to change to another one.

Verizon uses CDMA, not AT&T.

Oh good! *smile* Thanks for clearing that up.

the problem lies here in this! will they keep the same plans as t-mobile has or get rid of t-mobile current plans. Lets face it some of us could not aford not having an unlimited plan do to my wife on the phone a lot. When we were with sprint she ate through 3 thousand minutes like it was a chocolate cookie.

if you are on a family plan through at & t and have unlimitted text messaging they made it to where calls to other cell phone carriers, both made and received calls are free. Landlines don't count in this but you also have your rollover minutes there as well for those who don't use them much. Also, I'd imagine if TMobile did go to tiered plans like at & t, I'd imagine the ones on data plans that were unlimitted would be grandfathered in, and probably wouldn't have to change til they upgraded, then again with the murger it's possible the unlimitted plans might return.

Since ATT has said they will honor tmo plans, If you are forced to get a new phone, you can always buy unlocked and keep your rate plan. Besides, that won't be for a couple of years most likely anyway.
